If you're looking for Heidi Stone Photography, my business will be closing at the end of August 2012. Sessions are no longer being scheduled and this blog is now my personal blog.
Thank you all for such a wonderful four years in business! Perhaps we will meet again down the road. :)

The Fair Is Over / Indianapolis Photographer

Let's be honest. The fair has been over for 5 days. But I've been so busy doing other things (namely, homeschooling my kiddos and watching the LIVE Jasmine Star workshop hosted by CreativeLIVE) that I haven't gotten around to blogging my personal pictures from the fair. I shot a total of 4 sessions at the fair over the course of two weekends and loved every second of it. It was a lot of walking, but I enjoyed the challenge of exploring new locations and working around crowds of people everywhere.

I was thrilled to buy a new lens last weekend, the Nikon 16mm f/2.8 fish-eye, which was totally a non-necessity to running my business but I find it to be a load of fun. (And for those of you wondering? Definitely worth it!) I enjoyed using that lens during my sessions, but I really - like REALLY REALLY - enjoyed using it for my personal pictures. Take a look-see:

Okay, but I didn't use ONLY my fish-eye for my fair pictures. Here are a few others that I took the weekend before I bought that lens:

I couldn't resist taking one of just the boys. As it turns out, this is one of my favorite photos EVER.

AJ and Angel / Indianapolis Family Photographer

I admit it. I love photographing this couple. My first session with them was two years ago when they were pregnant with their son. I love it when the dad wants to participate in his wife's maternity session and theirs was a total blast. I've photographed their little guy a few times since then, but I was delighted to work with just AJ and Angel again for this session at the state fair! Parenthood is nothing short of awesome, but I also think it's so important to take time out to be a couple. :)

Pick Me! Pick Me!

Fisheye4

Did I say I'd announce the winner of the free session here in the morning? Geez, that must have been an accident. Anyway, surprises are always around the corner here! After reviewing the entires, I actually chose two winners! Congrats to AJ & Angel and Joyce & Lamar! You'll definitely want to keep a heads up for those sessions as well as a fabulous senior rep session (part 2 - see part 1 right here on my totally non-revamped senior blog) which are all taking place at the Indiana State Fair this weekend!

You'll Want To Read This

The state fair is quite possibly my favorite non-holiday event of the year. I don't know exactly what it is about the fair that I love. Is it the food? The crowds of people? The live music? The stinky animals? The lights? Whatever it is, I always look forward to it every year despite the fact that it's in the middle of the August heat.

Because I think the state fair is one of the best places on earth AND because I think it is a fabulous place for a session, I'm giving a session away!! But you've gotta be quick. Here's the details:

Who: A couple in love - any couple! 18 years old......86 years old....whoever!

What: A totally FREE session!!

When: THIS Saturday afternoon, August 21st. Entries must be received by midnight TONIGHT, August 19th.

Where: Indiana State Fairgrounds

Why: Because I love the fair.

How do you enter, you ask? Simply email me at heidi(at)indyphotographyonline(dot)com or message me on Facebook and tell me WHY you want to win a free session with your spouse/fiance. The winner will be announced here on the blog as well as on Facebook tomorrow morning!

Questions can be directed to the email address above or listed in the comments section of this post.

See you at the fair!!!!

Averi / Indianapolis Baby Photographer

Seven month old Averi met me at the fair this weekend for some fun, colorful pictures! She seemed awfully serious for most of her session but occasionally cracked me a smile. Regardless of her facial expression, I found her to the be the sweetest little thing!

Lucy Jane Studio / Indianapolis Child and Product Photographer

Where have I been lately?

I've actually enjoyed having a nice little break this summer. My June was VERY full. I had lots of sessions and I honestly was amazed to be able to fit all of them in! In July, I was contacted by several vendors about doing product photography. So I called a few friends and also used my girls as models for said products.

Today I want to feature a few products by Lucy Jane Studio. Kim (owner) lives here in Indy and does a fabulous job with her dresses. I was really impressed with the quality (and cuteness factor) of these! Please visit her Etsy shop if you're interested in getting your hands on any of these adorable dresses!
