If you're looking for Heidi Stone Photography, my business will be closing at the end of August 2012. Sessions are no longer being scheduled and this blog is now my personal blog.
Thank you all for such a wonderful four years in business! Perhaps we will meet again down the road. :)

Three

Already? Can it be? My dear sweet angelic baby has turned into a whining screaming toddler. How is it that we never consider these things before getting pregnant? Nonetheless, she is still a sweetheart. A girl after my own heart, if I do say so myself. And - quite apparently - hair after my own hair as well. To be totally honest, hers is much more beautiful than mine with that gorgeous curl in it. I do hope it lasts, but I'm terrified that it is simply toddler curl. I have made a vow to never cut it. Ever. And I hide the scissors in the house from my children. All of them. I have heard so many horror stories about toddlers and hair and scissors all rolled into one. And I don't want to be a part of them. Not even once.

I digress.

This weekend we went to the Grace on Wings aviation festival and hog roast. The kids had a blast and I think I lost at least 8 lbs in sweat.

Unfortunately, I've gained it all back since then. Darn taste buds.

Reagan was being her typical happy...then whiny....then excited....then tantrum-throwing self. I skipped taking pictures of the tantrum. They're just not cute in the moment, ya know?

Reagan has a serious love for balloons

Which made the loss of this one all the more traumatic.

She's all grown up and ready to fly now.

She told me she'd be back soon and that she would miss me.

But then she threw a tantrum and I grounded her from flying.

Maybe next year. If she behaves.

Things Will Be Great When You're Downtown

Maybe it's because I grew up in a pretty small city. Or maybe it's because I'm so young and hip. Whatever the reason, I just love being downtown. Sure, an aspect of me finds it just a tiny bit scary, but perhaps that's part of the thrill.

Whenever I find the opportunity to make it downtown in the evening, I always try to shoot there. I've been accumulating pictures I've taken of the sights downtown over the past few weeks and just haven't found the time to share any of them here on the blog. But today I'm going to. Because it's sunny. Because it's Friday. And because I'm tired of being reminded that I'm planning to do it but haven't yet.

On this particular night, I planned to shoot this:

After shooting it, I turned around and shot this:

Life In The Fast Lane

Last Friday morning was like any other Friday morning. I was tired and looking forward to the weekend. School was put on the back burner and my kids watched too much TV. I ate too many Oreos and forgot to plan for dinner.

But last Friday afternoon was not like any other Friday afternoon. I spent my time sorting papers, something I absolutely despise doing. I have no problem keeping all of my business documents and papers in order and neatly filed away, but our personal papers (bills, statements, random mailings) are an entirely different story.

I pulled out the stacks of papers I had been hiding all over the house and sorted, sorted, sorted until my eyeballs actually fell out of their sockets.

It was a big mess to get them back in, so don't even ask.

I'm pretty sure I still have a few piles hidden so well that even I don't know where to find them, but for now....my life is a little bit more organized, my husband is happy to see fewer paper piles, and I.....well.....I'm pretty proud of myself for finally doing it. I'm sure it could be argued that there should be absolutely no pride in doing something that should have been done daily for the past several years. But I still feel good about it.

Please don't ruin it for me.

(And a note for photographers: The above image was taken with my D700 at ISO HO.3 - equivalent to ISO 25,600 - with just the tiniest amount of light coming in from the bathroom next to me. The ISO handling on this camera is amazing.)

Belinda / Indianapolis Photographer

She emailed and asked what we were doing over Labor Day weekend. I replied that she should come and visit. And so she did. Belinda and I have been friends for years and I always love getting together with her. Being with her is like a flashback to middle school - but without the homework, teasing, and crushes. She and I enjoyed shopping, eating, going to the comedy club, and lots of nothingness. It was a rather tremendous weekend. :)

We arrived on Mass Ave. about 25 minutes prior to the show on Saturday night, so we visited a nearby alley for a few minutes.
