If you're looking for Heidi Stone Photography, my business will be closing at the end of August 2012. Sessions are no longer being scheduled and this blog is now my personal blog.
Thank you all for such a wonderful four years in business! Perhaps we will meet again down the road. :)

Loozhully

There's something about the way kids talk that never fails to bring a smile to my face. Like my 5 year old's propensity to say loozhully instead of usually. It doesn't seem to matter how many times I correct the boy. It still comes out loozhully.

And for now, I'm perfectly fine with that.

Jason and Sara / Portland Portrait Photographer

Last weekend, I flew out to Portland, OR to visit my best friend and meet the newest baby in my (extended) family. When I arrived, I told Jason and Sara quite matter-of-factly that they would be modeling for me at Cannon Beach. And so they did. :)

SaraJason6

Seriously. The weather out there killed me.

Sara and I met in 1st grade. She just told me this weekend that I'm the only person in the world who calls her Sara. Not Saralyn. Which is her actual name. Anyway, back to 1st grade. She spit chocolate milk all over my new dress and I hated her for it. But then I got over it and we've been friends ever since.

Jason is the love of her life. You might recognize him from their wedding pictures which were on my old blog back in January. He dressed a little bit more casual for this session. You know, seeing as he didn't know it was happening and all. Plus, let's be honest. Renting a tux is expensive.

SaraJason4

Oh. My word. Do you see this sky??

SaraJason1

Jason and Sara(lyn), you were awesome hosts. Maybe next time I come I'll be cultured enough to try Lebanese food with you.

But probably not.

Isaac and Naomi, I'm SO SO glad Ivy arrived before I did! :) Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to visit with you guys, for feeding me lunch, and for letting me hold and photograph your sweet baby girl. I can't wait to see how much she'll have grown by the next time I visit Portland!

And truly, I'm honored that she has my red hair. ;)

Applause Welcome

I did it. I accomplished my goal of getting Reagan's 3-yr pictures done before she turned 4. And I beat that goal by a whopping 344 days! Do you see how great you can feel if you set your goals really low? ;)

Last night, on the way to Chickfila, we snuck in about 45 minutes of shooting time and four outfit changes. It was actually really fun to fulfill the challenge of finding some new locations so close to home! Sometimes I feel like I need to find really extravagant locations for my sessions, but last night was so unique and different. I loved it.

We started out here at this great fence. Honestly, I can't believe I've never shot here before. It was perfect!

Not 100 yards away I spotted this little patch of golden fall goodness.

I can't be sure, but I think Reagan might have been rapping here.

Then, even further off the road, I saw this field:

That's typical Reagan. In case you were wondering.

And then my husband made a joke about the dumpster. And I was all, "It's PERFECT!"

Dear Reagan, Thank you for being patient with Mommy. You are a rock star. I love you.

Stalling

It's ridiculous, really. The fact that I haven't taken Reagan's 3-yr pictures yet and her birthday was exactly 21 days ago. I think the goal is to take them slightly before a child's actual birthday so you have them to show on their birthday. But you know, life is busy and...well, there's really no excuse. I planned to do it Sunday night. But then I went shopping. I planned to it last night. But then I had work to do. And I had cooked all day. A mighty 14 meals are now in our freezer and I'm feeling very accomplished. Except in the area of taking Reagan's pictures. In that area, I'm feeling far less than accomplished. So now I'm planning to do it tonight. Before Chickfila? After Chickfila? I'm not really sure. But I really want to get them in. Tonight.

And don't even ask me where Savannah's 1-yr pictures are. I'm doing the girls in order of birthday.

Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?

Do you guys remember that show? I used to think it was the coolest show ever. I mean, let's be real here. How many children's game shows have there ever been? And then there was the computer game. Oh man, the game! Good stuff. Really. Good. Stuff.

While I know I'm not nearly as awesome as the famous Carmen Sandiego, I've definitely been pulling a disappearing act around here this week. I've been busy designing and will be releasing my full line of Christmas cards later this month, but I wanted to show you a few of my newest designs. These are from my line called Scribbles:

I've had so much fun designing these and can't wait to release all the available cards for this season! Make sure you stop in again soon. There is going to be an amazing offer for family holiday portraits coming up in the next few days! :)
